Garden Overhaul in Epping

Garden pergola Natural stone Water feature

For this project, we were asked to come up with a traditional style garden in keeping with the house and surrounding area, but also use some modern elements.

Dominated by a large ash tree, for balance we decided to separate the garden in to sections to make the best of the views and the sunshine as it moved over.

For the paving, we chose a sawn edge black slate from C.E.D Stone Group framed with granite temple setts. A fairly modern finish but slightly riven top to prevent slipping.

A main patio at the house for the social space including a bbq and a large drilled standing stone water feature to trickle away in the background.

At the rear of the garden in one corner we have a pentagon summer house, we had to obtain planning permission for this because of the height, this is insulated and double glazed. In the other corner a circular paved area with loungers to enjoy afternoon sun. A rectangular pergola covers the rear section of the paving. This, once established will have scented climbers covering the structure giving the area a sense of seclusion.

To finish off the garden we re-laid the lawn, and edged with Everedge (a metal edging) to define the lawn, and planted several hundred plants giving all year-round interest colour, the beds were also mulched to add nutrients and suppress weeds.

We used lighting to highlight feature areas and trees in the garden, as well as lighting up social areas and buildings.

We would like to whole heartedly thank Bradley, Sam and the team at Harlow Garden Services for creating a fantastic garden for us.

Once our children had grown up we wanted to change and maximise our garden by losing a large barked play area and overgrown, enclosing trees and bushes.

We decided to go for a blank canvas and remove everything we could and start from scratch with the objective of being able to use each area as much as possible.

The creation of a second patio at the end of the garden was a really good idea as it captures the last of the sun and has already proven to be a lovely area in the evening. The Summer House gives the garden additional interest and adds an extra room to the house!

We were well advised throughout the project and given great recommendations for suppliers of stone, plants and outbuildings. All along Bradley and Sam ensured we were happy with their work and nothing was too much trouble for them. The result for us is a much lighter, larger feeling, functional garden which exceeds our expectations.

We would have no doubt in recommending their services.

With thanks.
