Clay Paviour Driveway in Stansted

A driveway with a difference for a customer with a Victorian property in Essex.

When asked for ideas as to how to create enough room for three cars whilst not sacrificing planting beds, this is what we came up with! One solid area adjoining an area with a ‘drive over’ planting bed.

For this project, we chose to use Dutch clay pavers laid at 45degrees for strength and design interest.

The planting was based on blues and whites, with a variety of grasses that are hardy and low maintenance, we also planting various bulbs to add interesting spring and autumn.

As well as for decorative interest the beds also take proportion of the water run-off from the area to help storm flooding of the road.

This project proves that using interesting materials in the right way can make a standard parking area an innovative garden design.
